The transcendent God draws near - a reason for worship

Bruce Ware gives us an awe-inspiring reason for worshiping the holy God "who dwells among us" in this brief statement about God's transcendence (i.e. the fact that he is by nature infinitely separate and above his creation) and his immanence (i.e. his gracious choice to draw near to us).
Recall that it is the high and holy One who also dwells with the contrite (Isaiah 57:15); it is the One whose expanse cannot be contained by the heavens and the earth who also dwells with the humble (Isaiah 66:1-2). Yes, God is both transcendent and immanent. But marvel that the God who is fully and infinitely transcendent would choose to become immanent. Marvel that the One who stands eternally independent of the world should choose to relate so intimately with those of this world.(1)
